I love making a vegetable garden. There is something so special and rewarding in growing your own food. I love working the soil, planting the seeds, watering and watching it grow! Just knowing that your salad is grown in your own backyard is awesome!
This year though, it's a bit smaller and in a different location and it hasn't done as well as in the past.
For the first time this year I planted cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and eggplant. We'll see how it will all work out. I don't even know what to expect!
We had to move our garden this spring because we now had chickens that needed a home and that was the best location for the chicken coop and chicken run. It's in the far left corner of our backyard.
That spot was perfect for our garden as it has full sun all day and all the vegetables that I planted in the past did really well. We really had no choice and moved our garden to a little spot next to the house. This spot has less sun and the vegetables don't seem to be doing as well.
This year has been a cool one and that's fine for these vegetables, but what about the other vegetables like peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans? They like the heat and won't do as well. You can read about that here. So I'll be moving the garden again for next year. I'll be sure to post photos when the time comes. For now, we'll enjoy whatever veggies we can get from this years garden!
Do you have a vegetable garden? If so, what do plant in your garden?
